Bedding Size Table

First of all, let’s clear up a common myth: when buying bedding, start with the basics, including understanding your bed size. Are you looking for a kid’s bed, an adult single or a double bed? Each has its own sizes, so this will help you narrow down your options quickly.

Kids Pillow Size

In Germany, pillow sizing is simple. The standard size for a kid’s pillow and pillowcase is 40x60 cm—small and compact for little heads. This size is smaller than the standard adult pillow, so no confusion.

Adult Pillow Size

For adults, the traditional square pillow is 80x80 cm. Think of it as a large square, plenty of space to toss and turn in the night. A popular alternative is the 40x80 cm pillow, which is the 80x80 cm pillow folded in half—imagine a long, thin shape, like a baguette.

Other Pillow Size

There’s the standard EU pillow, 50x70 or 50x75 cm. It’s a bit longer than the standard pillows found in the USA, Canada, or Australia which are usually 51x66 cm. So if you’re shopping online from these regions, keep this in mind.

Fitted Sheets Size Guide

Kid / Single Bedding Size

90x200 cm: This is the standard size for a single bed in Germany. It’s used for kids' beds but also for adult single beds. If you have a bed for one person, this is probably the size you need.

Standard Bedding Size

140x200 cm: Often called a large single, this size is great if you want a bit more space to move around. It’s still a single bed but with more room, perfect for taller kids or singles who like a bit more wiggle room.

Standard + Bedding Size

160x200 cm: This is the minimum size for a couple’s bed. If you sleep together but find space is limited, this might be your mattress size. It’s compact but has room for two without too much extra space.

Comfort Bedding Size

180x200 cm: A popular choice for couples who want more space, this size has more room to sleep comfortably without feeling too squished. If you have a bit more room to move but want that cozy feel, this is probably your size.

Double Bed Bedding Size

200x200 cm or 200x220 cm: These bedding sizes are for those who want a more luxurious, spacious sleeping area. If you like having plenty of room to spread out without bumping into your partner, this is probably what you have.

Duvet Size Guide

When choosing a duvet, knowing your mattress size helps you find the right fit for your bed. Here’s a breakdown of the different duvet sizes and which beds they’re suitable for:

Single Duvet Size: 135x200 cm

This size is perfect for standard single beds, whether 90x200 cm or 140x200 cm. It has plenty of coverage for one person, cozy but not too big. If you have a single bed, this is probably the duvet size you need.

Single Plus Duvet Size: 155x220 cm

For those with a slightly larger bed, such as a 140x200 cm mattress, this size gives a bit more coverage, perfect for taller people or those who like a little more warmth. It’s also common for oversized single beds.

Double Duvet Size: 200x200 cm or 200x220 cm

This size is suitable for double beds or queen-sized beds (180x200 cm). It provides enough coverage to prevent the usual tug-of-war between couples at night. If you have a larger bed and want plenty of room to move, this size is ideal.
